After patiently waiting months and months for them to come out and do my roof they changed the date on me two times and then when they came out they said they didn't have it on the work order to do the soffit (they did and I called so they fixed it) and were what my renter's described as "probably some of the most unprofessional workers he has ever seen" due to not showing up and working on the days they indicated that they would and some other things. All of this could be forgiven if they didn't finish my roof just yesterday afternoon and since call me 4 times in less than 24 hours demanding payment in an unfriendly manner. The roof has not even been finished for 24 hours. I explained to two different people at G&W roofing that my insurance company mailed the check (hurricane Mathew damage) to wrong place and that they were re-issuing it today and that I will call to pay them in 3 or 4 businesses day. Note that I never received an invoice at completion or even signed to agree what my shingle colors would be and I'm not certain I have all new soffit. Also note that I didn't call harassing them daily every time the job got rescheduled (I have been waiting on them for months upon months which is why the first check from the insurance company expired and had to be re-issued). I told them I am absolutely going to pay them but due to the error of my insurance company and I need 3 or 4 business days and they find this unacceptable. Well, I find them unacceptable and so long as they harass me daily (even though I was patiently for them while animals made their home in my roof) I will seek out places to spread the word of their lack of professionalism. They had 2.4 stars on google and I should have known better. It's been 24 hours since my roof was finished and they are acting like I don't want to pay them. Come on - the insurance company is paying for this..everyone knows the damage is from hurricane Mathew.. why wouldn't I want to pay the? It's $9,400 and they chose to harass me instead of giving me 3 -4 business days. Ridiculous. I had to wait months and months for them and they won't wait 3 or 4 days for me without getting VERY ugly? I'm spreading the word folks! Also, I told them on the third phone call that if they didn't stop being ugly I would tell everyone how they were treating me as a customer and write a review about it. I'm going to pay them in a few days but after this I dread ever having to talk to them again. Really put a bad taste in my mouth and I wish I had gone with a different company.
Friday morning G & W Roofing was a NO CALL, NO SHOW. I waited and waited then finally called to inquire. The secretary stated there was a delay because it rained the day before (understandable) so they would arrive at my residence later in the day Friday, not in the morning. She said she was contacting someone and would call back IN A FEW MINUTES to let me know about what time they would arrive. SHE DID NOT CALL BACK. Over an hour passed and I called again. The secretary said, "..oh, you're actually on the schedule for MONDAY". When I asked to cancel the contract, she said they would charge me for the permit cost. INCREDIBLE. The VP promptly called upon hearing I wanted to cancel the contract. He provided some interesting information. He stated it was impossible to have done the work in the timeframe originally promised by the company anyway due to removing the original roof, inspections, and whatever else. The company gave us a full refund of the deposit and cancelled the contract without incident. This company may possibly do good work (so I gave 2 stars rather than 1), but the failure to communicate schedule changes, inaccurate information, and the seemingly lack of consideration for the customer or the customer's time, made me too apprehensive to have them do the work.
G&W Roofing did an excellent job on the roof at my office. The roofers were professional and worked very diligently to ensure that the roof was replaced as quickly as possible. Paul and Dave will take good care of you! Great job guys!
This review is based solely on their business practices which made me too leery to have them do the work on my family's Florida home. They were scheduled to replace our roof but called to postpone the work due to a terrible storm (understandable). I asked if they could begin on a Friday, so they rescheduled it for Fri, Sat, Sun, and Mon. I called two days before and confirmed the date. The office person cheerily CONFIRMED I WAS ON THE SCHEDULE Friday and they would be at my residence Friday morning. I stressed several times how important the dates were (4 days) that I was on a tight schedule. The office person corrected me and stated it would actually take only 3 days but they could lose a day due to weather. I stated that was fine because if it only took 3 days and they lost a day due to weather, it would still be done within 4 days. She agreed. All was well.
A great example of the quality of their work occurred recently during hurricane Irma. Our boat house was built and shingled 12 years ago before I met G&W. As I mentioned G&W did our main house a year later. After Irma, we needed a new roof on the boat house; entire rows of shingles were missing. On the main house we lost a few cap shingles that were replaced very quickly. I would highly recommend G&W.
G & W Roofing replaced our roof many years ago, we recently had an issue (not a leak) and they were fast to repair at no charge. The jobsite was always left clean, the workers were courteous, and the County Inspectors liked their work. Glad to know there is a quality roofer here in our community.
I have bought 4 roofs from G&W over the past 11 years (three big hurricanes). They are priced fair and stand by their work. Dave King has serviced my account for all of that time. In addition, they have an excellent service department that is a separate division from the roof installers. On two of my projects they solved issues that existed on the homes for many years.
